I am pleased to welcome you to Prairie View A&M University and to our website dedicated to reaffirmation of accreditation by the Commission on Colleges-Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). 

The Principles of Accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools are the Foundation for Quality Enhancement; thus, satisfying these requisites ensures the institution is in compliance with an established set of standards.  The University was fully accredited initially by SACS in 1959, and has since undergone self-evaluation processes for reaffirmation of accreditation every ten years to assess our commitment to upholding high academic standards in each component of our mission as a land-grant University.  Following each self-evaluation process, the University has emerged stronger and more effective.

Prairie View A&M University is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service, and is committed to achieving relevance in each component of its mission.  To fulfill its mission, the University welcomes the opportunity to engage in a self-evaluation for reaffirmation, which allows us to examine the entire University, assess all aspects and plan for the future.  To implement the self-evaluation process, there was broad-based involvement including administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni and other supporters of the University who were organized into teams.  Some members had the responsibility for assembling data and support information to demonstrate that the University is in compliance with the comprehensive standards required by SACSCOC, while other members are involved in preparing our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), iREAD, for further strengthening the entire University and focusing on enhancing the quality of student learning through reading.

Prairie View A&M University offers quality degree programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels, with competent faculty to accomplish its mission.  As you peruse the website and examine the Compliance Certification Report and the Quality Enhancement Plan, you are invited to provide ideas and suggestions for the continued strengthening and enhancement of Prairie View A&M University, an institution committed to quality without compromise.
